Gold leaf is a medium that intrigues me with its beautiful variations of color and sweeping patterns. I have chosen a simple design of cherry blossoms on a ginger jar. The easy form of the design allows the viewer to see the unique qualities of metal leaf.

Gold leaf is a medium that intrigues me with its beautiful variations of color and sweeping patterns. I have chosen a simple design of cherry blossoms on a ginger jar. The easy form of the design allows the viewer to see the unique qualities of metal leaf.
I enjoy working with this natural medium as it gives depth and substance to my artwork.
Each overlay of gold leaf transforms the picture into a unique one of a kind treasure. I especially appreciate how the metal is always changing depending on the glow of the light that illuminates the piece. When viewing the painting from different angles the light will reveal subtle changes in color and luminosity.
The combination of simple form and clean lines coupled with carefully placed gold leaf creates a harmonious painting that stimulates the senses to feel the warmth of the earth and the depth of the metals within it. Please take the time to experience the hidden treasures of my “Ginger Jar”.
